Publication at Second Faculty of Medicine |
2007

Abstract

Suicidal behaviors and actions occur in several forms, from fleeting suicidal ideas, through continuous thoughts, suicidal tendencies, suicidal attempt to complete suicide. This behavior is not in itself a psychiatric diagnosis, although many mental disorders are associated with a risk of suicide.

A professional examination is needed to diagnose a possible mental health disorder. At the same time, it is necessary to assess the risk factors and the overall suicidal risk both now and in the future.

Therapeutic interventions depend on the result of the examination.
