Abstract

This year, the Day of Rare Diseases falls on February 29. It is a certain symbolism - such a date appears only once every four years, and the diseases that this initiative wants to draw attention to are equally rare. "However, no disease is so rare that it does not deserve our attention," says MUDr.

Kateřina Kubáčková from the Radiotherapy and Oncology Department of the Motol University Hospital, who has been dealing with this issue for a long time. Among other things, she represented the Czech Republic in the Committee for Orphan Medical Products (COMP) at the European Commission for six years and is now the Czech Republic's representative in the Committee of Experts of the European Community for Rare Diseases (EUCERD).
