Abstract

The effect of liraglutide is based on physiological processes. The clinical efficacy is either comparable to the current therapy, or significantly better.

The liraglutide therapy bears minimum risk of hypoglycaemia, at the same time it leads regularly to a clinically significant weight loss, and also blood pressure decrease. Risks of therapy by liraglutide are, based on the currently available data, small.

Results of clinical studies suggest also a possible long-term positive impact on cardiovascular morbidity and/or mortality.
