Insulin and insulin analogues in the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus

Publication at Second Faculty of Medicine |
2009

Abstract

The progressive failure of insulin secretion is still uncontrollable, and at some stage in the disease, insulin therapy is indicated in type 2 diabetics to maintain normoglycemia. Efforts to maximally mimic physiological insulin secretion have led to the development of insulin analogs and the use of intensified insulin regimens.
