Abstract
Sulphonylureas are time-tested antidiabetics and are some of the longest known active ingredients. On the one hand, their properties have been proven for years, but on the other hand, they can be further improved by innovations.
An example of a drug in which the advantageous properties of a well-known and proven gliclazide molecule with a new galenic form (controlled release tablets) are combined is gliclazide MR, available in the Czech Republic under the trade name Diaprel MR (Servier).
