Abstract

Following a study in the New England Journal of Medicine by Keller et al. The hypothesis that the low total number of nephrons, whether caused by prenatal development or after birth due to kidney disease or partial nephrectomy, was first expressed by Brenner in the early 1990s.

However, the above-mentioned study has only now received significant support.
