Guidelines for the diagnosis and treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease COPD - Stable phase

Publication at Second Faculty of Medicine |
2010

Abstract

COPD is a treatable disease that can be prevented. COPD has significant extrapulmonary effects that may contribute to the overall severity of the disease in individual patients.

Its pulmonary component is characterized by a limited flow of air in the bronchi (hereinafter referred to as bronchial obstruction), which is not completely reversible. Bronchial obstruction usually progresses and is associated with an abnormal inflammatory response of the lungs to noxious gas particles.
