Abstract

Haematopoetic stem cell transplantation is a treatment modality in some malignant or non-malignant disorders. As number of survivors after is increasing, it is important to evaluate their quality of life.

Children are particularly vulnerable to late complications of intensive pre-transplant conditioning because of the immaturity of their organs and impairment of development potential. Late sequelae often not necessarily life-threatening might significantly impair the quality of life.

Between serious late effects of the treatment gonadal damage and subsequent infertility also belong. Here we present our procedures aiming to preserve ability for biological parenthood in boys and girls undergoing intensive anti-tumorous therapy and/or HSCT who than in adulthood may became biological parents of healthy children.
