Insulin treatment in patients with diabetes: past and present

Abstract

Insulin therapy is first associated with treatment 1 diabetes type as the only option for other types of diabetes when they move on to fail if all other methods of therapy. The first known mention of the symptoms that we see today as signs of diabetes, dates from 1550 BC from ancient Egypt, written records of the disease, which remained unknown substance found in a wide range of sources to the 19th century.

It was only discovered in 1889 Oskar Minkowski and Joseph von Mehring, that the authority associated with the occurrence of diabetes is the pancreas - an experimental after surgical removal of the animal were to develop diabetes.
