Defects on legs in patients with diabetes mellitus

Abstract

In diabetic patients are very often encountered with defects of the lower extremities, especially with diabetic foot ulcers and (ulcus cruris). Diabetic foot call destructive affected tissue of the lower extremities of diabetics distally from the ankle, the due to the extensive ulceration, gangrene and in extreme cases, the need for amputation.

The main factors which lead to diabetic foot, are diabetic neuropathy (senzomotorická and visceral), limb ischemia (angiopathy), reduced joint mobility and pressure on the soles of the feet. The emergence and difficult healing ulcers are often involved in infection.

Leg ulcers in patients with diabetes mellitus defect is usually present on the front legs and the ankles. The most common cause is chronic ulcer bércového venous insufficiency.

The text are discussed causes, diagnosis, principles of treatment options and prevention of diabetic foot syndrome and varicose ulcers in patients with diabetes mellitus.
