Abstract

This article deals with exercise or sport induced hematuria, proteinutria a rhabdomyolysis. Postexercise hematuria is caused by trauma or intensive exercise itself.

Besides this, postexercise hemoglobinuria caused by intravascular hemolysis can be found. If there are normal results in urine examination after 72 hours and if there are isomorphic erythrocytes found during microscopic examination of urine, there is no need for further examination and restriction of exercise.

Proper hydration is prevention of postexercise hematuria. Postexercise proteinuria is benign condition.

It is caused by intensive exercise with no influence of trauma or hydration status. Specific prevention does not exist.

Postexercise rhabdomyolyis is often caused by exercise containing excentric contractions in predisposed individual. Acute infection, dehydration, low training status, alcohol intoxication or specific medication are the predispositions.

Avoiding these factors is prevention of postexercise rhabdomyolysis.
