Typhoid fever in a patient after travel to India – Interim report

Abstract

A case history is reported of a 56-year-old man who presented with fever after a two-month travel to India. He reported to have been vaccinated against typhoid fever 26 months earlier.

He was admitted to hospital. His stool specimen was culture positive for group D Salmonella and the agent was further identified as Salmonella Typhi.

The Widal reaction was positive.
