Secondary osteosarcoma in terrain of primary chronic osteomyelitis

Publication at Second Faculty of Medicine |
2009

Abstract

The paper on the development of osteosarcoma in the field of primary chronic osteomyelitis describes a case of a 22-year-old patient. This case report is interesting in that it is an osteosarcoma arising in the field of chronic osteomyelitis in a young patient and in a short period of time.

However, the cases of secondary osteosarcoma based on osteomyelitis described in the literature speak of a significant longer course of the disease, typically this tumor does not appear in the affected terrain until ten or more years and at an older age.
