Phytoestrogens in the treatment of menopause

Publication at Third Faculty of Medicine |
2007

Abstract

The idea of using phytoestrogens in human medicine was born out of observations of women in Southeast Asia, who generally have a lower incidence of acute menopausal syndrome, osteoporosis or certain diseases of civilization (including breast cancer). In the search for the cause of this condition, it turned out that the diet of the inhabitants of this area is rich in foods high in phytoestrogens, especially soy.
