Abstract
Currently used oral contraceptives usually contain a combination of ethinylestradiole (EE) and some from the palette of progestins. Newly, we have an opportunity to treat our patients by a combination of progestine dienogest (DNG) and estradiol-valerate (E2V), which is at least as effective as the older preparations in sense of conception avoidance, whilst encouraging safety profile is achieved.
Beside the positive influence on plasma lipids, also less apparent influence on haemocoagulation parameters, caused by inferior effect of E2V on liver proteosynthesis compared to EE, has to be stressed. Moreover, during E2V/DNG therapy, the bleeding episodes were shorter and lighter compared to low dose contraception containing EE/LNG.
