Abstract
Diabetes mellitus type 2 is a chronic disease with continuously increasing prevalence and incidence. This is associated with an immense burden in both health and social system.
There are many drugs used in the therapy, among others oral antidiabetics. The authors try to summarize the most frequently used drugs as well as they show the possible future ways of development of substances with innovative mechanism of action.
