Current trends in the treatment of herpes infections

Publication at Second Faculty of Medicine |
2006

Abstract

The overview also lists common and some rarer clinical forms of infections caused by herpes viruses, including the most common complications. The content of the article is mainly a therapeutic approach to these infections.

Currently, there is an increasing emphasis on causal treatment, which shortens the duration of the disease, alleviates symptoms and reduces the frequency of complications. In particular, patients of the youngest age group, the elderly and people with any immunodeficiency are always indicated by antiviral therapy.

The usual dosage of antivirals is also given and the properties of some new preparations are briefly described.
