Abstract

Orthodontic treatment using a fixed appliance brings aesthetic and functional improvement of the teeth, but at the same time it hides the risk of demineralization, tooth decay in the vicinity of orthodontic locks and periodontal diseases. These dental lesions are caused by a poor level of hygiene.

Therefore, new treatments are being sought that will shorten the duration of orthodontic treatment and that will facilitate oral hygiene for patients. One of the new approaches to treatment is the use of self-ligating locks.
