Abstract

A small amount of alcohol is clearly beneficial to health. Regular daily drinking increases levels of HDL ("good") cholesterol, and it is one of the reasons for reducing the number of heart attacks and reduce overall mortality not only in healthy people but also for people with high blood pressure, diabetes, and in patients after myocardial infarction.

Drinking alcohol increases energy intake by 7.1 kcal, or 29.7 kJ per 1 gram of pure alcohol. Of course, different types of wine on the menu calories are different.

It is mainly caused by various sugar (table).
