Abstract
Tacrolimus is ranked as the first effective product for the topical treatment of atopic dermatitis since the introduction of topical corticosteroids (over 40 years). Tacrolimus is a much safer and more effective, long-term use leads to atrophy of the skin.
Certain handicap compared corticosteroids may be relatively frequent occurrence of local burning and redness in the first days of application, which usually subside with continued treatment.
