Abstract
Periodic fevers and auto-inflammatory diseases are newly described pathological units that feature a disorder of inflammation regulation in their pathogenesis. It is a steadily widening heterogeneous group of rare diseases.
Classical periodic fevers are monogenic diseases, other units do not have a clear cause and some even overlap with autoimmune diseases. The article gives a brief overview of these units, focusing on practical clinical approach towards diagnostics and treatment of these difficult conditions.
