Abstract
Gastric cancer, despite of the great progress of currentmedicine, remains disease with a serious prognosis. One of the reason is a large number of patients with advanced stages.
The only hope for long time survival offers radical surgery with complete tumour removal. Successful rate of surgical treatment depends on the stage.
Early diagnosis, accurate staging and radicality of the surgical procedure remain one of the most important prognostic factors. The review of current diagnostics, treatment options and possibly prevention is the topic of our work.
