The authors review main principles in the use of enteric nutrition in seriously ill patients with partly or completely functional alimentary tract, where a common mode of nutrition is not possible or sufficient. The survey outlines presently used preparations for enteric nutrition at the Faculty Hospital in Prague-Motol with a brief characterization.
The paper summarizes the ways and complications in the administration of enteric nutrition. Present knowledge of nutritional pharmacology is described inasmuch it is still a matter of research and purposely used in the administration of enteric clinical nutrition in the therapy of basic disease.
