Consensus of using antibiotics: II. Macrolides

Abstract

Working group for antibiotic policy at the Presidium of the Czech Medical Society JEP (ČLS JEP) presents further continuation of information on rational antibiotic treatment (Consensus on use of antibiotics II. Macrolides and azalides).

As well as the already published part (Consensus on use of antibiotics I. Penicillin antibiotics), contains a chapter on macrolides recent information on this group of antibiotics.

Information prepared by consensus and opposed members of the Czech Medical Society JEP, are based on the Summary of Product Characteristics - SPC (Summary of Product Characteristics), which specify a detailed description of the situations in which he has antibiotic position of first choice and when used as an alternative medicine due to special conditions in terms of patient risk and antibiotic resistance. The aim is to achieve a reduction epidemiological risk of the emergence and rise of resistance, which is always threatened by incorrect application antibiotics.

The basis for the indications is therefore to find out the most accurate etiology of the disease and application of new knowledge on pharmacodynamic - pharmacokinetic parameters of antibiotics and risk of resistance. Guidance on how to obtain valid information on the etiology of respiratory infections is provided as a recommended procedure for the treatment of respiratory infections the choice of antibiotics also reflects the current epidemiological situation in resistance in our country.
