Alcohol Septal Ablation for Hypertrophic Obstructive Cardiomyopathy: Is it Safe?

Publication |
2009

Abstract

I read with interest a case report by Antoun et al. [[1]] that alcohol septal ablation (ASA) can be complicated by a sudden cardiac death. I wish to support their experience, comment on the occurrence of malignant arrhythmias after ASA, and also explain our rules how to avoid peri-procedural sudden death in patients with a hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy (HOCM).
