Quo vadis Ross operation?

Abstract

This year it has been 45 years since British surgeon Donald Ross replaced the affected aortic valve with the patient's own pulmonary valve valve, the so-called pulmonary autograph. This so-called Ross operation is the safest most controversial cardiosurgical operation.

It has never expanded significantly, has more opponents than supporters, and is certainly not expecting a bright future. On the other hand, however, earlier "survives" 45 left not extinct.

And that in itself means that it is possible to use half a century in a field that is still in use, a long time. And for this reason, Ross's operation deserves a recapitulation and reflection on its prospects.
