Abstract

Phytoestrogens (FE) are natural active substances contained in plants, the higher animals and humans are characterized by high affinity for estrogennímu receptor (ER). Chemical structure of phytoestrogens are estrogen away, a common feature of the phenolic nucleus in the molecule, which enables binding to the ER with subsequent excretion of metabolic activity similar to endogenous estrogens.

The most famous group of phytoestrogens are isoflavones, kumestany, flavones, lignans and others differ in their oestrogenic properties. Risks of HRT for women in menopause are proven, FE creates the possibility of alternative treatments for women who can not take estrogen.
