Abstract

Achieving and maintaining tight glycemic targets while minimizing the incidence of hypoglycemia is a major goal of diabetes mellitus treatment. In clinical practice, the risk of hypoglycaemia is a significant barrier to the titration of sufficiently high insulin doses required to achieve satisfactory metabolic compensation.
