Russian-speaking criminals and their religiosity

Abstract

Understanding the issue of criminal's religious thoughts from the former post-Soviet region is important as for criminologist as for the prison staff. Religiosity is in the criminal subculture one of the keys to understanding the minds of criminals, influencing of the convicts and preventing socially - pathological phenomena.

The article deals with both the Christian and the pagan manifestations of religiosity. It shows signs of religiosity in tattoos, slang and rituals of prisoners.
