The System of Vchynice-tetovský Wood Transport Canal

Abstract

Vchynicko-tetovský canal and its system are technical monuments, which shows the ingenious way of using water power in process of transporting wood for business plans of Schwarzenberg prince family on the market with firewood in the 19th century. This work brought industralization and the related changes in the landscape and settlement into the area.

The bed of the canal is well-preserved throughout its lenght, although it was adjusted to later use. However, eight reservoirs, which supplied the canal with water and were destroyed in the connestion with evants after World War II, are in worse condition.
