Abstract
In the surroundigs of Čelákovice it is possible to find a lot of locations with long tradition of sandstone mining and hand-cutting dating back to the Middle Ages. In the local cementeries we can also detect many art sandstone pieces (tombstones) from relatively recent times (19th and 20th centruries).
The majority of those tomstones are there forgotten and regarding used material (sandstone) they deteriorate fastly. In this paper the situation in the cementeries is mapped, the particular authors identificated and some regional contextures and influences partly deduced.
