Art in public space as an agent of collaboration : the case of contemporary Mexico

Abstract

The presented paper analyzed collaborative art practice and self-dependent communities forming within urban societies in Mexico. These phenomena are discussed in the case studies of three communities, Tepito Arte Acá, Arte Jaguar and Reynosa Tamaulipas, where visual discourse of identity shaping and the role of art practice as the agent of engagement of the community are extensively powerful and obvious.
