New insights into the pathogenesis of bronchial asthma

Abstract

Bronchial asthma is chronic inflammatory airway disease characterized by airway hyperresponsiveness and remodeling. The administration of either inhaled or systemic antiinflammatory therapy is followed by good clinical response in majority of patients.

However, approximately 5-10% patients are not responding to this therapy. The reasons for this fact are discussed.
