Report on the first results of pepsin positivity in upper airway secretions in patients with chronic bronchial and lung diseases

Abstract

Extraesophageal reflux (EER) is recognized as a cause or a complication of a variety of upper airway, bronchial and lung diseases. To diagnose EER, a non-invasive, sensitive and specific investigation is needed.

Estimation of pepsin in airway secretions was used as a sensitive and specific marker.
