Memory, forgetting and temporal discontinuity

Publication at Faculty of Arts |
2014

Abstract

The paper in focused on the question, in what sense the philosophical analysis of individual memory and recollection (both intentional and unwitting) makes possible an investigation into the phenomenon of temporal discontinuity. The main issue of the paper are different means of return to the past.

In connection with this issue both philosophical reflection and literature show us, in what sense the theory of memory and recollection can serve as an alternative (or rather an addition) to the historical narrative.
