Geochemistry of mine tailings and behavior of arsenic at Kombat, northeastern Namibia

Publication at Faculty of Science |
2014

Abstract

The mine tailings at Kombat, northeastern Namibia has been investigated. Conditions remain neutral due to high content of dolomite in solid phase.

Most released metals and arsenic have been incorporated into crystalline ferric oxyhydroxides. Mobility of arsenic is low, but copper and lead in carbonates have higher mobility.
