I (M.R.) have been working four years in the field of psychiatry in the United Kingdom, and have passed my MRCPsych exam recently. During my training, I had the opportunity to work for 1.5 years in community teams in Mersey and West Midlands.
I have wide experience in working with crisis teams during the out of hours. As the newly prepared reform of the Czech psychiatry mirrors the British model to some extent, I felt it could be useful to share my experience in working in the UK with my colleagues from the Czech Republic.
This article is focused on benefits and drawbacks of the current UK psychiatry system, based on the personal experience of the first author. The content of the article is neither original research, nor a comprehensive literary review.
