On the emergence of new volumes of chants of the Armenian Orthodox Church: some issues of notations, performance practice and musical genealogy

Abstract

We discuss aspects of notation, performance practice and musical genealogy in connection with the Armenian hymnal and missal. In particular, point out the dilemmas and pitfalls attendant upon the conversion of transcriptions in the Limončean notation into modern Western notation.
