Abstract

The textbook of Public health and disease prevention serves primarily as a source of basic information and knowledge for pre-graduate medical students in area of Health Promotion, Disease Prevention and Community-Based Approach. There is described organisational structure of Institutional organs of Public Health, Environmental and Occupational Health, and Health System Reforms.

There are as well analysed the based causing factors from life style and environment determining the risks of non-communicable disease, especially obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases and cancers. Food safety, security and nutritional composition of diet, together with physical fitness, non- smoking, and moderate alcohol consumption are discussed in details.

There are given recommendations for healthy life style and its modification during life span, recommendation for screening programs and individual Testing/Counselling.
