Abstract

The system of territorial self-government in the Czech Republic has two grades. The first grade consist of regions - kraj (sg.), the second of municipalities.

There are 14 regions in the Czech Republic, the capital of Prague plaxs the role of both regions and municipalities. Each territorial unit has its own independent competences, which does not interfere with the other locval authorities.

Regions administer offices both in autonomy agency, and tasks of state administration under delegated competences. Regions in the Czech Republic are territorialy defined units with own guaranted self-government autonomy.

The powers are as folows: to ensure a development of the territory of region, to manage the commended property, and the acts in legal relations.
