Abstract

The author agrees with the opinion that there are three areas in the didactics of literature and school literary education that are necessary to be kept in mind and that are necessary to be in balance in order that the discipline and the school subject do not lose their aesthetic purpose and the aim to educate towards aesthetics. The three areas are as they follow: 1/ reading (reading of literary texts and reflection of the reading); 2/ creating (constructing and reconstructing texts and it's reflection); 3/ study of literature (getting to know the contexts that are relevant to the text interpretation; awareness of cultural continuity and cultural identity).

The "study of literature" approach dominates in current conception of literary education (moreover, it is reduced to history of literature and frontal instruction teaching). However, it is important to consider and develop all of the areas of literary education (e.g. the theory of literature; reading and creating and their reflection) and different approaches.

The main reason for this is that the students should understand the literature as it predominately occurs in real life, culture and among readers.
