Branched polyesters as perspective drug carriers

Publication

Abstract

We incorporated the fluconazole into the polyester matrices and in dissolution tests we studied the drug release depending on the molar mass, degree of branching and we evaluated the influence of type and concentration of plasticiser. While a linear polyester of PLGA with a molecular weight 7100 g/mol is released after 24 hours 85% of the drug and the remainder over the next five days of branched polyesters is the liberation slower.

Overnight burst effect is decreased and the total time was prolonged liberation depending on molecular weight and degree of branching. The presence of the plasticizer resulted in acceleration of fluconazole release according to the different extents hydrophilization polyester matrices.

The results of our studies, we consider promising for use branched polyesters in the formulation of a new type of drug.
