Abstract

The article deals with the problems and risks of use of antipsychotics in long-term care for patients with dementia. Provides basic information about the prescription of antipsychotics, their indications and risks in these patients.

Following are some data on prescribing antipsychotics at home and abroad. The authors emphasize the need for a comprehensive approach to the management of behavioral and psychological symptoms of dementia (BPSD), including psychosocial approaches and detailed analysis of the situation, especially the need to pay attention to possible provoking factors, including somatic pain.
