Abstract
This review provides a critical insight of Jakub Macek's book "Poznámky ke studiu nových médií". The book is benefitial for further development of the field of Media Studies in Czech Republic and especially valuable as a learning source for students.
However, its theoretical background is problematic. Macek provides only a very limited defintion of the so called New Media Studies seen through the local interpretation of Media Studies.
This leads to a distorted definition of a very broad, multidisciplinary research field, which may not need to be defined at all.
