Targeted colorectal cancer screening in type 2 diabetes patients and high cardiovascular risk patients - first interim results of a multicenter prospective study
Abstract
The national screening program for colorectal cancer (CRC) is designed for individuals with normal risk of this malignancy. However, there are literary documents that patients with metabolic diseases, particularly type 2 diabetics and patients with CHD may have a higher risk of colorectal neoplasia.
From 2013 runs in the Czech Republic multicenter prospective study to evaluate this hypothesis with a view to the possible application of these results in the screening program for CRC. The secondary endpoint is to compare the effectiveness of different bowel cleansing preparations.
In this text, we published first interim results of the study including the pilot project monitoring the effectiveness of the new bowel preparation sulfate salts (Eziclen) in the screening population. According to these results, patients with a higher metabolic risk have higher risk of adenomatous polyps.
New bowel preparation solution of the sulfate salt is safe and effective, particularly in the case of a split dosing.
