Destsection of pepsin in airway secretions in interstitial lung disease

Abstract

Authors present results of the study concerning pepsin concentrations in respiratory secretions and 24hour esophageal pH metry and impedance in patients suffering from progressive and symptomatic pulmonary interstitial processes. They investigated 106 patients, 40 males and 66 females of media age 58 years.

Frequency of pepsin positivity was 81%, coincidence od pepsin positivity and esophageal pHmetry nad impedance was 60%. he results of study confirmed precondition that extraesophageal reflux disease play active part in the pathogenesis of progressions and exacerbation of interstitial pulmonary diseases.
