Abstract
There is a clear epidemiologic evidence of the frequent comorbidity of coronary heart disease (CHD) on one hand and anxiety and/or depressive disorders on the other hand. The causal relationship between coronary heart disease and psychiatric disorders remains unclear.
The personality of the affected person as well as his/her emotional reactivity probably plays an important role in the development or decompensation of CHD. The emotional reactivity can be of a particular importance in case of an extreme emotional disturbance.
We want to point out an urgent need of multidisciplinary approach in order to improve not only the CHD prognosis with a proper treatment of anxiety or depression, but also to improve the quality of life in CHD patients.
