Abstract

The chapter maps major theoretical and conceptual trends within the field of urban history in late 20th and early 21st century, with focus on both post-war origins of urban history and the impact of the so-called linguistic, cultural, and spatial turn in the humanitites on the conceptualization of the city as a subject of historiography, which are also demonstrated on a couple of examples of concrete urban-historical volumes.
