The treatment of loan words and foreign words in the Early New High German Dictionary

Abstract

The vocabulary of European languages is determined by the genetic line from indoeuropean to german, dutch, czech a.s.o.; the semantic of the words is determind by the mutualities of European cultural history in general. Classical antiquity, Christian religion, common literature, philosophy, science.

This means that also national historical dictionaries have systematically to describe a European semantic dimension.
