Abstract

The communication addresses the case of a patient after restorative surgery of bicuspid aortic valve with severe aortic insufficiency. This high risk patient was by his dentist unsuccessfully treated for the tooth inflammation for 3 months.

The tooth was finally extracted. By that time, however, dry cough was already present, worsened appetite with weight loss 6 kg within 2 months, fatigue, sweating and shortness of breath.

During subsequent hospitalization the infective endocarditis of operated bicuspid aortic valve was found as the cause. Reoperation with aortic valve replacement by mechanical prosthesis was necessary.
